Congratulations to all of our runners and walkers!! An overall best time of 16:38.0 was achieved by Steven Murray. The top female runner was Kimberly Kremer with a time of 19:31.0. An Excel file with all of the times for the 5K is available for review.

Again we had the Wall of Honor set up on race day. The Wall of Honor is a way of honoring brain tumor survivors and remembering those who have gone on.  Individuals brought for display posters, photographs, and stories about their own experiences with brain tumor or those of loved ones who have been touched by brain tumor. The exhibit was quite moving.

SBTF is a supporter of the 2008 International Brain Tumour Awareness Week and the Walk Around the World for Brain Tumours sponsored by the International Brain Tumour Alliance (IBTA). See http://www.theibta.org for details. SBTF donated miles from the 2007 Race for Research to the 2007 Walk Around the World for Brain Tumours. SBTF again will donate miles to the 2008 Walk Around the World for Brain Tumours. Following is a message from the IBTA to the SBTF read to participants by SBTF President, Steve Andrews:

To all those participating in The Southeastern Brain Tumor Foundation Race for Research:

Warmest greetings from around the world!

Your activity here today will make its mark on the global brain tumour community.

By raising awareness and funds for brain tumour research and by donating the walking mileage achieved today to the Walk Around the World for Brain Tumours, you are showing solidarity with others around the globe whose lives are touched by this disease.

Your walking mileage from today's Race for Research will be added to the target of three times around the world at the Equator - a distance of 120,000 kms.

Good luck and warmest wishes for every success today.  Each and every step you take is one step closer to a cure for brain tumours.

        Kindest regards,

        Denis Strangman, Chair

        and

        Kathy Oliver, Secretary

The International Brain Tumour Alliance (IBTA)
