SUMMARY:Parents of Young Adult Survivors Support Group
DESCRIPTION:Transitioning your child from pediatric to adult brain tumor care can be difficult. This support group for parents of brain tumor patients provides parents of  young adult survivors the opportunity to share experiences with others parents and to talk through some of the challenges they face. To allow for open conversation\, this support group is only for the parents\, their children are not invited to this meeting. \nThis meeting occurs the second Tuesday of each month from 6p-7p ET. Meetings are being held virtually until further notice via the Zoom platform due to pandemic concerns. \nOnce in-person meetings can resume safely\, the online platform will continue to be offered to allow those not in the Atlanta area and those uncomfortable with group settings to continue to attend the support group. \nTo RSVP and receive further information including the Zoom invite\, please email the support group coordinator\, Brittany Lawton\, at brittany.lawton@piedmont.org. \nThis Southeastern Brain Tumor Foundation support group for parents of brain tumor patients is in partnership with the Piedmont Brain Tumor Center. \nThere is a separate support group for the young adult survivors that also meets via Zoom. Our Aphasia Support Group brings together brain tumor patients who are struggling with aphasia. \nDue to pandemic safety concern\, the support group is meeting virtually using the Zoom platform. SUMMARY:Race for Research
DESCRIPTION:The Race for Research\, our annual fall 5k race\, 1k fun walk/run held in Atlanta\, Georgia\, provides hope for the advancements in brain tumor treatment. The success of this annual fundraiser enables us to fund vital brain tumor research. Each fall over 1\,000 people join together as a community to bring awareness and hope to those facing a brain tumor diagnosis. Funds raised are used to support research grants looking for a cure. To learn more\, visit SBTFrfr.com. \nRegistration is NOW OPEN for the Race for Research! We can’t wait to see your face as this will be an in-person event! We are monitoring current CDC and City of Atlanta guidelines for COVID-19 protocals. At this time\, we are planning the Race as an in-person event. We understand some may not feel safe joining us in -person and encourage those supporters to either donate or participate as a virtual runner. If we have to change the format of the Race\, we will announce the change via email\, social media and our Newsroom. \nRegister for the 1k or 5k run/walk\, kids tot trot\, as a volunteer or as a virtual participant. \n  \nRace for Research photos will be available for free download approximately two weeks after the Race. DESCRIPTION:The Young Adult Survivor support group meeting provides the young adult brain tumor patient an opportunity to meet other young adult brain tumor survivors\, discuss or share experiences\, and ask questions about treatment plans or effects of treatment on your physical & emotional health. Young adults include those over eighteen but under twenty-five years of age. DESCRIPTION:The Muddy Duck Dash is an easy to moderate 3.2 mile mud/obstacle style race and included about 20-25 various obstacles\, like hay bail climbs\, 6′ walls\, shallow pond crossing\, low wire\, creek run\, mud pit\, rope hill climb\, various barricades\, bubble slide\, tree maze\, plus more! A Duckling Dash allows kids under eight and those who’s abilities may not fit the full course to participate. The Dash has scheduled starting waves\, so be sure to get your flock all in the same start wave! \nHeld rain or shine\, this event is GORMR certified and attracts more than 1\,000 participants. It has grown into a Foundation that has funded almost $3 million dollars in research\, awarded scholarships\, and supported patients and their families. Our impact together can be seen in the research strides as well as in the improvement of the lives of brain tumor and brain cancer patients and their families. The online platform is slated to continue even after face-to-face meetings can resume. This will allow participants not in the Atlanta area and those who do not feel comfortable in a group setting to still have access to the support group. \nThe Southeastern Brain Tumor Foundation hosted aphasia support group meets bi-weekly via Zoom at 1:30 – 2:30 pm ET on Wednesdays. It may affect mainly a single aspect of language use\, such as the ability to retrieve the names of objects\, or the ability to put words together into sentences\, or the ability to read. More commonly\, however\, multiple aspects of communication are impaired\, while some channels remain accessible for a limited exchange of information.

DESCRIPTION:The Young Adult Survivor support group meeting provides the young adult brain tumor patient an opportunity to meet other young adult brain tumor survivors\, discuss or share experiences\, and ask questions about treatment plans or effects of treatment on your physical & emotional health. Young adults include those over eighteen but under twenty-five years of age. The Southeastern Brain Tumor Foundation does not currently offer a support group for those under the age of eighteen due to HIPA concerns. \nThis support group meeting occurs the second Tuesday of each month from 7:00p-8:30p ET.  Meetings are being held virtually via the Zoom platform until further notice. Once in-person events can resume\, the online format is slated to continue to allow those outside the Atlanta area and those who are not comfortable in the group setting to continue to meet. \nThe meeting is in partnership with the Piedmont Brain Tumor Center. DESCRIPTION:Transitioning your child from pediatric to adult brain tumor care can be difficult. This support group for parents of brain tumor patients provides parents of  young adult survivors the opportunity to share experiences with others parents and to talk through some of the challenges they face. To allow for open conversation\, this support group is only for the parents\, their children are not invited to this meeting. \nThis meeting occurs the second Tuesday of each month from 6p-7p ET.
