DESCRIPTION:Aphasia is caused by damage to the language-dominant side of the brain\, usually the left side\, and may be brought on by stroke\, head injury or a brain tumor. Our online Aphasia Support Group brings together brain tumor patients who are struggling with aphasia. Erica Johns Freestone\, SLP\, from Emory John’s Creek Rehab department facilitates this meeting. \nThe support group meets virtually using the Zoom platform. This allows participants not in the Atlanta area and those who do not feel comfortable in a face-to-face group setting to still have access to the support group. \nThe Southeastern Brain Tumor Foundation hosted online aphasia support group meets bi-weekly via Zoom at 12:30 – 1:30 pm ET on Thursdays. SUMMARY:Young Adult Survivor Support Group
DESCRIPTION:The Young Adult Survivor support group meeting provides the young adult brain tumor patient an opportunity to meet other young adult brain tumor survivors\, discuss or share experiences\, and ask questions about treatment plans or effects of treatment on your physical & emotional health. Young adults include those over eighteen but under twenty-five years of age. The Southeastern Brain Tumor Foundation does not currently offer a support group for those under the age of eighteen due to HIPA concerns. \nThis support group meeting occurs the second Tuesday of each month from 7:00p-8:30p ET.  Meetings are being held virtually via the Zoom platform until further notice. DESCRIPTION:The Young Adult Survivor support group meeting provides the young adult brain tumor patient an opportunity to meet other young adult brain tumor survivors\, discuss or share experiences\, and ask questions about treatment plans or effects of treatment on your physical & emotional health. Young adults include those over eighteen but under twenty-five years of age. The Southeastern Brain Tumor Foundation does not currently offer a support group for those under the age of eighteen due to HIPA concerns. \nThis support group meeting occurs the second Tuesday of each month from 7:00p-8:30p ET.  Meetings are being held virtually via the Zoom platform until further notice. DESCRIPTION:Giving Tuesday 2023\, a global day of generosity and kindness\, is November 28\, 2023. Funds raised on the day of kindness will support the brain tumor patient initiative which offers acts of kindness such as grocery delivery\, meal options and transportation assistance to those currently undergoing treatment for a primary brain tumor. The Foundation partners with local treatment facilities to lighten the load for patients as a simple act of kindness as they face brain cancer or a brain tumor. \nGiving Tuesday occurs annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving each year following Cyber Monday and Black Friday. \nYou can financially support this initiative on our Donate Page and select Giving Tuesday  (be sure to check to see if your employer matches gifts!) or you can set up a personal fundraiser on Facebook\, add a donation sticker to an Instagram story\, or use our “Fundraise Your Way” feature to create a personal fundraiser such as a bake sale\, car wash or anything else to benefit the Southeastern Brain Tumor Foundation on Giving Tuesday 2023! \nIn addition\, you can help spread awareness by posting why you support the SBTF on social media and sharing the Foundation’s social posts that day. Erica Johns Freestone\, SLP\, from Emory John’s Creek Rehab department facilitates this meeting. \nThe support group meets virtually using the Zoom platform. This allows participants not in the Atlanta area and those who do not feel comfortable in a face-to-face group setting to still have access to the support group. \nThe Southeastern Brain Tumor Foundation hosted online aphasia support group meets bi-weekly via Zoom at 12:30 – 1:30 pm ET on Thursdays. DESCRIPTION:Hosted by the SBTF\, the Emory Brain Tumor Support Group aims to provide an opportunity for information sharing and support for adult brain tumor patients\, as well as their family\, their friends and their caregivers. Occasionally\, the group meets at the St. Joseph’s campus of Emory Healthcare in Atlanta\, Georgia. The online format allows participants not in the Atlanta area and those who do not feel comfortable in a group setting to still have access to the support group. \nMeetings are held every other Thursday from 12:30 – 2:00 pm ET. The meetings are open to patients and their caregivers. Some meetings include a guest speaker on topic relevant to the brain tumor community. SUMMARY:Young Adult Survivor Support Group
DESCRIPTION:The Young Adult Survivor support group meeting provides the young adult brain tumor patient an opportunity to meet other young adult brain tumor survivors\, discuss or share experiences\, and ask questions about treatment plans or effects of treatment on your physical & emotional health. Young adults include those over eighteen but under twenty-five years of age. The Southeastern Brain Tumor Foundation does not currently offer a support group for those under the age of eighteen due to HIPA concerns. \nThis support group meeting occurs the second Tuesday of each month from 7:00p-8:30p ET.  Meetings are being held virtually via the Zoom platform until further notice. Once in-person events can resume\, the online format is slated to continue to allow those outside the Atlanta area and those who are not comfortable in the group setting to continue to meet. \nThe meeting is in partnership with the Piedmont Brain Tumor Center. DESCRIPTION:Transitioning your child from pediatric to adult brain tumor care can be difficult. This support group for parents of brain tumor patients provides parents of  young adult survivors the opportunity to share experiences with others parents and to talk through some of the challenges they face. To allow for open conversation\, this support group is only for the parents\, their children are not invited to this meeting. \nThis meeting occurs the second Tuesday of each month from 6p-7p ET. Meetings are being held virtually via the Zoom platform to allow those not in the Atlanta area and those uncomfortable with group settings to continue to attend the support group.
