It was in 1999 when Suzanne first began serving our mission as a volunteer. Her boss was an SBTF Board Member and Suzanne was recovering from brain surgery. Eager to be involved with others in the brain tumor community, her volunteer service was a natural fit. In 2000, Suzanne was involved in the launch of the 1st Annual Race For Research. Over the next several years, she was heavily involved with other fundraising activities and worked tirelessly with donors and constituents to raise funds for brain tumor research.
“When I was nominated to join the Board of Directors in 2004, I was humbled by the opportunity to have a greater impact fulfilling the mission of the Foundation. Serving side-by-side with others who share the same passion is beyond rewarding.” says Suzanne.
Since then, her tireless service to the Foundation has not gone unrecognized. She was elected to the Executive Board in 2013 and has most recently served in the capacity as SBTF Treasurer. The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the Foundation’s landscape, but it has not distracted us from our mission. “Always be positive, despite the distractions”, says Suzanne. “Your smile is contagious and will affect others”.
During these COVID times we might not see each other’s smiles as they are hiding behind our masks. It’s important to note, our eyes can share a smile too – Suzanne is all smiles with the opportunity to continue to serve and work together with all of you to find a cure and advance treatments for those in the brain tumor community.
Congratulations Suzanne Boeren, SBTF 2021 Treasurer!
