In February, the SBTF is proud to introduce the “Lighten the Load” initiative, a patient support program for those currently undergoing treatment for a brain tumor.
During our “Giving Tuesday” campaign, the goal was to create a new patient initiative program in 2021. This program would give the Foundation the opportunity to provide gift cards to patients and help offset a little of their expense during their brain tumor journey. Generous donations from those supporters enabled us to purchase $5,000 dollars in gift cards! Ms. Basham worked with Wal-Mart and their bulk gift card program to provide gift cards that can be used for gas, prescriptions, food or other necessities.
As we enter the month of love otherwise known as February, we at the SBTF want to spread a little kindness and lighten the load of brain tumor patients by handing out these cards to patients. We partnered with four institutions; Northside Hospital, Emory, Piedmont Brain Tumor Center and Northeast Georgia Medical to identify primary brain tumor patients and lighten their load in the month of love. Each institution will receive fifty gift cards enclosed in a customized SBTF greeting card and will spread kindness throughout the community.
We can’t thank you, our supporters, enough for your generosity. We are HOPEful this campaign will continue and develop into a program the Foundation can offer each year to support the brain tumor community. If you would like to donate in support of this campaign, please accept our gratitude.
